What's up with the Travel Channel?

The Travel Channel website is still an outstanding source for travel news and ideas, but what's up with the their television line-up? It's like watching the Food Network. It seems half of their television schedule is food based or at least food driven. Anthony Bourdain, Andrew Zimmern and Adam Richman are always on. What gives? If I wanted to watch some overzealous, bald dude eat bird-vomit soup, then I would tune into a food channel, some extreme network or that stupid reality network. I get Bizarre Foods is about traveling to all corners of the world and dining on different cultures, but the show is not travel themed. It's about grossing you out. Why would I tune into the Travel Channel and want to watch Zimmern almost puke trying to eat year-old stinky tofu? Jeez, I'm not twelve. It isn't cute. It's foul!

And if I thought Bizarre Foods ventured too far from the travel theme then what is the purpose of Man vs. Food? Seriously. This, I don't even understand. I guess the show is about some twenty-something life drop-out (maybe the producer's brother?) who travels around trying to either overeat or win some sort of pig-out contest. Other than these "pig-out" sites being in different U.S. cities, I can't even figure out why the Travel Channel airs this garbage.

Speaking of pigging out...I also see that the Travel Channel even airs a series of shows on the best places in the U.S. to pig-out. Please don't tell me someone is spending their precious leisure time and hard-earned travel dollar searching out these gorging joints. Whatever! Rant over.
